B#bbles (2016), PPC Performance Dialogues for Zhen Zhu Fang: A Public Living Room, People’s Park Complex, Chinatown, Singapore SG

The People’s Park Complex, a landmark mixed-use building, has shaped Chinatown and Singapore’s social fabric. The Zhen Zhu Fang exhibition, in its fifth-floor car park, explores blurred boundaries between public and private spaces amid visual clutter and spatial challenges.

All human beings have three lives: public, private, and secret.

Gabriel García Márquez

Fascinated by the indistinct hubbub generated by the users of the complex where private words are shared openly in public, I invited passersby to join me and create a private dialogue in the public space contained by colourful lines. Thus, the bubbles created will remain temporarily as traces of these encounters.
